During the Salone del Mobile’s annual press conference, it was announced that one of the accompanying events will be an important exhibition depicting classic design. “Before Design: Classic”, is under the artistic direction of Ciarmoli Queda, and will narrate this genre as a transversal category of living, instead of connected to an exact historical period. An integral part of the exhibition is a short film directed by Matteo Garrone, which attempts to depict classical furniture in a non-pedagogical way. The Salone’s exhibition, along with Garrone’s images, invite the observer to make room for projects that, through both their inspiration and creation, do not illustrate a specific style, but use a rigorous classical approach. After a period of viewing them as unorthodox, the design world has been accepting these creative manifestations with arms wide open.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
