A series of expertly executed cloth and paper birds has “flown” in to Thomas Eyck’s eclectic collection of objects and furniture, titled T.E. “After having analysed and rendered nature as a decorative form, we decided that these bird sculptures had to represent it as it appears, in three dimensions,” Thomas stated. “With the Avifauna series”, he continues, “we tried to reproduce realistic cloth or paper birds”. There ten pieces produced for each of the species, all posed on wooden pedestals; the folded cloth or paper expertly revealing the intended silhouette. The intentional choice of simple materials highlights the high level of skill, making these modern bird figures valuable. The birds are joined by a collection of fish made from newspaper and enclosed in plexi-glass boxes.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
