There is new addition to the ample and varied offering of hotels in Manhattan. The New York EDITION recently opened its doors in the centre of the Flatiron District, just walking distance from Madison Square Park. The hotel is found inside the Metlife Clocktower, one of the most celebrated buildings in New York. The skyscraper was constructed in 1913, having been inspired by San Marco’s bell tower in Venice; it was recently restored so that it could be used as a hotel. The EDITION is spread over 41 floors, and has 273 rooms, including three suites, all boasting a panoramic view. The hotel’s stores and locales are open to the public. The interior is contemporary yet inviting, and the wood finishings and soft lighting make for an elegant atmosphere. EDITION Owl, a bar already making waves in the city, is located on the ground floor, and is known for its signature cocktail, served in a glass shaped like an owl. The Clocktower restaurant is located on the second floor, facing out towards the park. It has three dining rooms and the Golden Bar, named rightfully so, as the bar is completely covered in 24K gold.
