Milan’s Rinascente has windows that sparkle, thanks to the the installation by Swedish artist, John Armleder, curated by Cloe Piccoli. Christmas decorations are a reoccuring theme in Armeleder’s work. His Christmas parties, in collaboration with the recording studio Villa Magica Records, founded by Sylvie Fleury and her son Stephane in 2003, have become well known. Every year, the world’s most noted artistic figures gather in Geneva for these parties. Each window has its own painted, materic surface that serves as a background to a disorganized accumulation of sparkling coloured, silver and gold christmas ball ornaments. The soundtrack was specifically created for the occasion, and mixes with the installation to create a magical symbiosis between painting and artifice, art and consumption, that places the Christmas ornaments at the center.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
