For Christmas 2014, Barcelona decorates Paseo de Gracia, the noblest narrow streets of the Catalan capital, onto which look the two emblematic buildings of Antoni Gaudi, Casa Mila and Casa Batlló, with illuminations created by Lagranja design, a studio founded in Barcelona in 2001 by the Catalan Gerard Sanmartì and Gabriele Schiavon from Padua.

The shapes of the illuminations are freely inspired by the maquette from Gaudi’s arches, constructed with ropes and sandbags.
Made in different sizes, with red and white LEDs, the unusual illuminations give the Paseo an original Christmas air. The designer illuminations inaugurate a promising new chapter of urban design, proving that one can party, avoiding the replication of tradition and refraining from being kitsch.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
