During a round-the-table discussion at Expo, there was a general lament about the decline in creativity. The masters such as Vico (Magistretti), Ettore (Sottsass) and Achille (Castiglioni) produced major projects during their era. But, alas, it would seem design with a capital D is finished. I believe however, on the contrary, as I have argued in the debate, that this is a season of fervent creativity, which manifests itself in different forms, but all proactive. There are many new talents who have been researching new ways of planning, taking care not only of the types and forms, but the production and distribution processes, these being talents working for companies far away, both geographically and culturally, creating new hybrids. They are craftsmen, creating both by hand or by using new technologies, skipping the traditional process of production/ distribution, by offering directly to the market with new sales solutions. At the same time there are designers and contractors, who, working directly with craftsmen, revitalize local expertise.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
