Enzo Maiorca, legendary Italian free diver who passed away at the beginning of November, lived by the thought that, “all one needs to be happy is sunshine and a view of the sea”. If this is true, then one who looks out to the horizon from aboard one of Sanlorenzo’s yachts has a different view. The prestigious company, hailing from La Spezia, has been synonymous with excellence and quality since 1985. With Massimo Perotti at its helm, today the brand is a nautical “boutique”, the perfect marriage between design and the sea. After the 2015 collaboration with Chris Bangle Associates, the SD 112 Kathleen stands as testimony to this. The yacht, designed by Antonio Citterio, marked Citterio Veil architecture studio’s debut in the boating world.

The architectural details typically used in the world of construction meet the traditional grandeur of yacht silhouettes; Sanlorenzo’s timeless lines surpass current trends. The result is a masterly fusion of luxury and innovation, true to Citterio’s joyful combination of function and form that amplifies the living spaces aboard, eliminating the typical sense of closure associated with boating interiors. The entrance of big name modern design companies in the nautical world is a clear sign that residing and boating are coming together through innovation and tradition. A perfect blend for those who desire a life of navigation.

The Moodboarders is a glance into the design world, which, in all of its facets, captures the extraordinary even within the routine. It is a measure of the times. It is an antenna sensitive enough to pick-up on budding trends, emerging talents and neglected aesthetics. Instead of essays, we use brief tales to tune into the rhythm of our world. We travelled for a year without stopping, and seeing as the memory of this journey has not faded, we have chosen to edit a printed copy. We eliminated anything episodic, ephemeral or fading, maintaining a variety of articles that flow, without losing the element of surprise, the events caught taking place, and the creations having just bloomed.
